Wyte Mic Returns With Purpose: Utah Lyricist Revives Real Rap Through Raw Honesty & Sharp Storytelling

Rising independent artist Wyte Mic (Aaron Peterson) is carving out a lane of his own with a powerful blend of introspection, wit, and lyrical craftsmanship. At a time when trends dominate the mainstream, Wyte Mic stands tall on a mission to “put rappers back into rap.”

Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Wyte Mic’s journey wasn’t built on shortcuts. As the oldest of four, he grew up facing financial hardship and navigating the emotional impact of his mother’s serious medical condition. These early-life challenges shaped both the depth and direction of his music — a fusion of honesty, humor, pain, and resilience.

Influenced by a diverse list of icons — from Tech N9ne, Atmosphere, 50 Cent, and Eminem to Linkin Park, Deadmau5, Moby, and even Frank Sinatra — Wyte Mic pulls from every corner of music to build a style that can flip from heartfelt reflection to satirical commentary without losing its authenticity.

His relationship with hip-hop began in the early 2010s during freestyle sessions and local performances. Between 2012 and 2014, Wyte Mic gained traction promoting and performing at Utah shows before temporarily stepping away to focus on personal growth and career stability.

But 2025 marks a turning point. After walking away from a logistics job, Aaron fully recommitted to music — bringing sharper lyrics, deeper purpose, and a renewed hunger to speak his truth.

A Catalog Full of Substance

Wyte Mic’s recent releases highlight his unique ability to shift between storytelling, emotional depth, and dark humor:

  • “Scream for Halloween” – A high-energy, horror-inspired banger built for thrill-seekers and October playlists.

  • “Family Home Evening” – A vulnerable reflection on love, loss, and connection.

  • “Read Your Intent” – A clever take on communication and emotional clarity in the digital age.

  • “Burning Addiction” – A heartfelt record addressing substance abuse, healing, and hope.

  • “Pool to the Porch” – A sharp, satirical look at privilege and the pursuit of happiness.
