Roman King Reimagines Iconic Hit “Tempted to Touch” with a Fresh Drill Twist

Rising artist Roman King is bringing a beloved Caribbean classic into a new era with his electrifying remake of “Tempted to Touch”, originally by Rupee. Known for his genre-bending style, Roman puts his own spin on the iconic track while paying homage to the song that defined countless dance floors in the early 2000s.

“‘Tempted to Touch’ was one of my favourite songs growing up. Honestly, I think it’s everybody’s. The second you hear that intro, the whole crowd goes crazy,” says Roman King. “I had the idea of recreating the track about two years ago. I haven’t seen anyone do anything with it, so I thought—bet, I’ll be the one.”

The inspiration came unexpectedly while Roman was going through beats and stumbled upon a sample of the classic. Within two hours, the track was written and recorded in his home studio.

“When I finished and played it back, I got goosebumps. I knew it was going to be crazy,” he recalls.

For the music video, Roman took cues from Rupee’s original minimalistic visuals—bright colors, few distractions, and a good-vibes atmosphere—but elevated it with a modern, high-energy flair. Shot at Moonlight Studios, which Roman manages, the video features striking set pieces, from fire and laser effects to a mirrored box. A vintage whip and retro jerseys nod to the past, while a sleek Dodge Charger injects a contemporary edge.

“I wanted to contrast the original vibes with some modern taste,” Roman explains.

Musically, “Tempted to Touch” marks a significant moment in Roman King’s artistic journey. Known for his versatility across reggaeton, R&B, afrobeat, and rap, Roman fuses the nostalgic sample with the grit and bounce of drill, creating a unique sound that expands his catalog.

Looking ahead, Roman has no plans of slowing down.

“I’m planning more shows, I’ve got some more dancehall for y’all before summer ends, just dropped a pop track with Mackenzie Lubeck, and I’m working on something with a Caribbean star from Toronto I can’t name yet. We’re just getting started. Whatever God has planned for me, I’m ready for. God’s speed.”
