Intro:From the streets of Memphis to the ears of fans around the world, rising hip-hop artist GXNGO is making waves with his raw authenticity and versatile sound. Known for blending street themes with emotional depth, GXNGO's music speaks directly to those who’ve walked through hardship and come out stronger.

In this exclusive interview, we unpack the journey, influences, and aspirations that shape GXNGO as an artist and individual.
1. What first drew you to hip-hop, and how did you begin your journey as GXNGO?
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve had a deep love for music. Whether it was hearing a track on the radio or remixing songs in my head, music always lit a spark in me. That passion led me to experiment on my own—teaching myself how to mix and master by trial and error. I spent countless hours honing my craft and building connections, and over time, that dedication brought GXNGO to life.
2. What’s the story behind your stage name, 'GXNGO'?
I’m Mexican, but people used to assume I was white and would call me “gringo.” At the same time, my music often focused on gang and street culture. So I fused the two ideas into “Gango,” then swapped the 'a' with an 'x' to make it unique. It’s a name that represents both sides of my identity—where I come from and the world I come from.
3. Which artists or genres have most influenced your musical style?
Big Scarr, Drake, and BigXthaPlug are major influences for me. But I also listen to a wide variety of genres. That diversity plays a huge role in shaping my sound and keeps it fresh. I never want to be boxed in—I want each track to bring something new.
4. How do you approach songwriting?
I let the music guide me. Sometimes a melody pops into my head, other times a beat triggers a vibe. I never force it—it’s all about the emotion and authenticity. I take pride in bringing something real to the table with every song.
5. Are there recurring themes in your music?
Definitely. I always aim to turn struggle into sound. Whether it’s physical, emotional, or mental, I want people to know they’re not alone. I’ve been through it too. My music touches on a range of vibes—sad, confident, angry, happy—but the message stays grounded in shared experience.
6. How do personal experiences shape your music?
Growing up in Memphis, hardship was a part of daily life. That reality naturally bleeds into my music. I write about heartbreak, growth, peace—whatever I’m living. Each track is a chapter of my story, keeping listeners connected to where I’ve been and where I’m headed.
7. What’s been your most memorable performance moment so far?
For me, it’s not about one stage—it’s about seeing my music reach across the world. Knowing that people I’ve never met connect with my story is a powerful feeling. That’s what keeps me pushing forward.
8. What major challenge have you faced, and how did you overcome it?
Balancing finances with my music career has been tough. There were moments when I questioned how far I was willing to go. But even when things got uncomfortable, I never quit. That struggle only deepened my commitment and made me more focused than ever.

9. How do you handle criticism or feedback?
I stay open to it. I know my music won’t be for everyone—and that’s okay. I don’t need to appeal to everybody. I focus on being real, and if someone resonates with that, it’s a blessing.
10. Have you collaborated with other artists, and how has it shaped you?
Yeah, I’ve worked with artists like iayze, Lawsy, GloFromDa4, Brezzo, and Javion Bishop. Every collab brings a new energy and perspective. It challenges me creatively and helps me evolve as an artist.
11. Who are some dream collaborators—artists or producers—you hope to work with?
Drake, BigXthaPlug, Ro$ama, and Tre Loaded are on my list. For producers, I’d love to work with Bandplay, 40, and Tay Keith. I think our styles would mesh well and elevate my sound.
12. What’s your take on the current state of hip-hop?
Hip-hop is wide open right now. Not every artist is my vibe, but I still respect anyone putting their art out there. Whether people love it or hate it, it’s real—and that deserves recognition.
13. How has your upbringing influenced your musical path?
Being raised in Memphis showed me all sides of life—the highs, the lows, and everything in between. That struggle is woven into who I am and what I create. It’s not just part of my story—it is my story.
14. What do you want listeners to take from your music?
I hope they take whatever they need. I’ve got a wide range of songs, and there’s something in my catalog for everyone. Whether someone’s hurting or celebrating, I want my music to meet them where they’re at.
15. Where do you see your career in five years?
In five years, I hope to be signed, collaborating with artists I admire, and making music full-time. Fame isn’t the goal—I just want to live off my passion. One of my biggest dreams is to open a recording studio in Memphis and give back to the city that raised me.
